Where do projects come from?
From trials to Final installation: Radio Frequency
Since February 2021, Cartigliano has been working on a radio frequency leather drying project with Packer Leather. Packer is an Australian company established since 1891 and is recognised as the World leader in high performance kangaroo leather production. Packer creates customised solutions for many global brands that design and manufacture products using kangaroo, bovine, sheepskin and crocodile leather.
WHY KANGAROO LEATHER?
Kangaroo leather is considered the strongest and lightest natural leather available.
Kangaroo skin has a unique fibre structure that runs parallel to the leather surface to provide exceptional rope-like strength.
Kangaroo leather is suited for many highly demanding applications like football boots, motorcycle apparel and gloves, hiking boots, military and tactical footwear and gloving as well as small leather goods and aviation leathers.
There is no other natural leather or leather substitute with comparable properties to kangaroo leather.
As part of a larger project to provide clients with superior leather, and using best available technology, Packer has installed the most precise and advanced technology in the Cartigliano range – Radio Frequency.
Radio Frequency conditioning works only when there is excess water in the leather and replaces outdated conventional dehumidifier technology. This next evolution technology with through-feed functionality will integrate with current processes at Packer following the vacuum dryer process.
Packer will control leather moisture content more precisely than the previous system, improve production efficiency, be integrated into the ERP system and the digitally connected production environment and provide real time data on production throughput and leather moisture quality.
